Army Awards Leidos $133M for DoD ABIS Support

Leidos [LDOS] has received a potential five-year, $132.7 million contract from the Army to provide support services and enhancements to the Defense Department’s authoritative biometrics repository, unseating incumbent Northrop Grumman [NOC]. The award for the DoD Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) Sustainment Services and Service Life Extension was made as a task order under the General Services Administration’s Alliant contract. The task order establishes the requirements for a systems integrator to provide operations and maintenance support services, sustainment, enhancements and modifications of the existing DoD ABIS, which is version 1.2, and development of the service life extension for version 1.3. DoD ABIS is a multimodal biometric database that can match fingerprint, face, iris, palm, and latent fingerprint and palm images in seconds.

OSI Systems Receives $6M Order

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received a $6 million order from an international customer to provide rail cargo scanners, radiation portal monitors, baggage and parcel inspection systems, and desktop trace detection systems. The customer wasn’t disclosed.

Vision-Box Contracts with Australia for Seamless Traveller Program

Vision-Box says it has received a three-year contract from the Australian government for what it says will be the world’s first automated “contactless” traveler clearance processes for people arriving to the country by air at all international airports. The company says the contract will expand on its work with Australia that began in 2015 to provide biometric border control SmartGates at all airports’ departures. The new contract will help the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection to collect and verify biometric data from all passengers arriving at Australian international airports. Vision-Box will also deliver a new capability that will enable known travellers to self-process through the border without using a passport by relying on facial recognition technology.
