TSA Awards L3 $41M in Potential Medium-Speed Purchase and Support Orders

L3 Technologies [LLL] has received two contracts worth a combined potential $40.8 million for multiple medium-speed explosives detection systems (EDS) and technical engineering projects. Under an award worth $20 million, L3 will provide the agency with 15 eXaminer 6700 EDS systems for deployment at three U.S. airports, the Transportation Security Laboratory, and the Terr Explosive Device Analysis Center. Under a $20.8 million contract, L3 will provide various technical engineering work related to its family of eXaminer medium-speed EDS systems including information technology security, enhancements and upgrades, relocations, reinstallations and decommissioning, and other work.

OSI Systems Nabs $31M in International Contracts

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received two contracts worth a combined $31 million from international customers to provide to provide various screening systems. The largest award, $23 million, is from a major European airport group to provide multiple RTT 110 explosive detection systems for automatically screening checked bags for explosives. The RTT has passed the European Union’s European Civil Aviation Conference’s Hold Baggage Screening EDS Standard 3 requirement and has been deployed by a number of airports and air logistics providers. “Our RTT hold baggage systems continue to be well received in the marketplace by customers that seek to meet ECAC detection standard guidelines,” says Deepak Chopra, OSI’s chairman and CEO. The other award, worth about $9 million, is from an international customer to provide multiple Rapiscan Eagle P60 high-energy, drive-through cargo and vehicle inspection systems.

EL AL Airlines Orders EDS Systems from Smiths Detection

Smiths Detection says that Israel’s EL AL Airlines has ordered 11 additional CTX 5800 explosive detection systems (EDS) to automatically screen checked bags for explosives. The order was placed with Smiths Detection LLC, which was the former Morpho Detection that was recently acquired by Smiths. The order brings to 30 the number of CTX 5800 units operated by EL AL, which has previously deployed the systems to various airports worldwide, including in France, Germany, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the U.S. Smiths Detection worked with local partner Hyper-Tech Advanced Systems on the order. The CTX 5800 units are designed for small and mid-sized airports.

KR Contracting Wins $15M for Guard Services

The Department of Homeland Security has awarded KR Contracting, Inc., a potential five-year $15.2 million contract to provide protective security officer services at a number of sites in Northern Virginia. The contract is a HUBZone small business set aside.

Coast Guard Awards Bollinger $289M for Six FRCs

The Coast Guard has awarded Bollinger Shipyards a $289 million contract option for six more Fast Response Cutters (FRCs). The award is for vessels 39 to 44. Currently, 22 FRCs are in service. The Coast Guard plans to acquire 58 FRCs.
