Smiths Detection Nabs EDS Contracts in UK, India

Smiths Detection says it has won order to provide explosive detection systems (EDS) for screening checked bags in airports in London and India. The company says it will supply nine high-speed CTX 9800 DSi EDS systems under a contract with London Gatwick Airport. The contract includes service as well. The systems will screen all in-line luggage at the airport’s south terminal and ensure compliance with the UK Department of Transport mandates requiring the use of Standard-3 approved EDS by Sept. 2018. The company is also supplying India’s Cochin International Airport with four CTX 9800 DSi EDS to screen all passenger checked baggage. Cochin is the first airport in India to screen all checked luggage with computed tomography based EDS. The company is also supplying 13 HRX dual view X-Ray systems to screen arriving baggage at customs checkpoints. The contract includes on-site support by Smiths Detection for at least 10 years. Smiths acquired the CTX systems through its recent acquisition of the Morpho Detection business of Safran Group.

Coast Guard Plans $32M C4ISR Maintenance Contract with L3

The Coast Guard plans to award L3 Technologies [LLL] a five-year, $32 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to provide sustainment support services for the various C4ISR systems that the company provides the service for use on certain assets and facilities. The equipment is used aboard National Security Cutters, Fast Response Cutters, District Seven Command Centers, Training Center Petaluma, C3CEN Radio Frequency Communications Laboratory, and the Integration and Test Facility in Camden, N.J.

SPAWAR Awards $24M Bridge Extension for Cyber Security Support

The Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command has awarded a 18-month $24 million extension to an existing contract to a number of contractors that compete to provide cyber security support. The extension has a one-year period worth $15 million that extends to June 2018, and a potential six month option worth $9 million that extends to Dec. 2018. The focus on the engineering, development and operational services is on computer network defense, computer network exploitation, computer network attack, cyber security, cross domain solutions, and certification and accreditation. The contractors that compete for work under the contract are all small businesses and include: Advanced C4 Solutions; ISHPI Information Technologies; Sentek Consulting; ALEX-AS Joint Venture; Strategic Operational Solutions; High Action; Business Computers Management Consulting Group; Imagine One Stracon Venture; Business Integra Technology Solutions; Network Security Systems Plus; Dynamic Network Enterprises; RLM Communications; and TISTA Science and Technology Corporation.

Crossmatch to Provide Palm Scanners for UK Upgrade Program

Crossmatch says that it has been selected by Northrop Grumman [NOC] has selected the company’s L Scan 1000 palm scanner for an upgrade to the current criminal booking solution for the United Kingdom Home Office Forensic and Biometric Interim Capability program. Crossmatch says that by December, more than 375 enrollment and capture stations will be upgraded incorporating its livescan devices. The L Scan 1000s allow for capture of fingerprint and palm print images. Crossmatch fingerprint technology was selected in 2000 by Northrop Grumman to replace ink and paper fingerprint capture that was being used by the Home Office.

FLIR Receives $6M Coast Guard Order for Airborne Sensors

The Coast Guard has awarded FLIR Systems [FLIR] a $6 million order to procure eight Star Safire 380HD electro-optical infrared sensors for its HC-144A Ocean Sentry medium-range surveillance aircraft. The new sensors will improve the aircraft’s detection and identification capabilities. The sensors are compatible with the Minotaur mission system architecture and will increase commonality among the Coast Guard’s fixed wing platforms, which also include the C-27J Spartan medium range surveillance aircraft and HC-130J Super Hercules long-range surveillance aircraft. Deliveries of the sensors will be completed this year.

CBP Awards Pre Con Industries $33M for Tactical Infrastructure Maintenance

Pre Con Industries has received a $32.9 million contract from Customs and Border Protection under the Comprehensive Tactical Infrastructure and Repair program. Pre Con will provide maintenance and repair services in the El Pasto and Big Bend, Texas, Border Patrol sectors.
