TSA to Host Industry Days on Innovating the Future of Aviation Security

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in June will host three consecutive Industry Days entitled “Innovating the Future of Aviation Security” as part of its ongoing efforts to advance commitments put forth in its five-year Strategic Technology Investment Plan published last August. The symposium will be held June 7 to 9 at the Transportation Security Integration Facility near Reagan National Airport in the Washington, D.C. area. The symposium will build on an open systems architecture meeting earlier this year, a passenger screening request for information to be issued this month, update body scanner detection standards and future advanced technology X-Ray detection standards, cyber security, and forthcoming Broad Agency Announcements on a primary carry-on screening system and a Future Innovation Task Force. Defense Agency Plans RFP for Integrated Security Services Contract

The Washington Headquarters Services around May 23 plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency Integrated Security Services Contract, which is a total system approach for providing integrated electronic and physical security systems for the Pentagon Reservation, Mark Center, Defense Health Headquarters, DoD leased facilities, and Raven Rock Mountain Complex in Adams County, Pa. Key security systems include a wide variety of electronic systems such as biometrics, intrusion detection, identity, credential and access management, CBR detection and mitigation, and intelligent video analytics. Army Issues RFI for Standoff Chemical Precursor and Explosive Detection

The Army has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources with the technical capability and necessary resources to provide Product Manager Force Protection Systems regarding availability of a non-developing one base on an existing product within 18 months to detect traces of chemical precursors or explosives on vehicle targets or personnel at standoff range. The desired detectors and sensors shall be interoperable with the rest of the force protection systems being used by U.S. and coalition partners. Ideally, the technologies would be employed as mobile solutions or fixed sites capable of remote or standoff detection and capable of relaying detection data to installation entry control points, base defense operations center, and tactical operations center. DTRA Seeks Sources for Access Denial Technologies to Support Countering WMD Ops

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has issued a Sources Sought Notice for access denial technologies to support countering weapons of mass destruction operations. DTRA is particularly interested in standoff capabilities, such as air delivered, to rapidly control, isolate and secure WMD-related facilities. The Defense Department requires a standoff weapon capability to deny ingress/egress of WMD related vehicles, personnel or means of delivery, prevent and or deter unauthorized access to sites, and remove WMD-related materials, equipment or technologies. FAA Surveys Market for Security Fencing for CBP RVSS Relocatable Towers

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting a market survey for security fencing applicable to the relocatable towers for the Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) in support of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). DHS Plans New QPL for Trace Detectors

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a pre-solicitation notice to establish a Qualified Products List (QPL) for trace detectors (TDs), which are handheld or desktop devices that detect various types of commercial and military explosives and can be used to detect illegal drugs. DHS will establish a qualification process which allows products to be evaluated against requirements. Only vendors that meet the requirements are invited to participate in a subsequent acquisition process. The resultant QPL will be considered a department-wide ordering vehicle for TDs. And industry engagement event to discuss the QPL is expected to be held on June 7-9. The Transportation Security Administration will announce various TD requirements by utilizing functional categories, tracks and windows. DHS Issues RFI for Ways to Achieve 100 Percent Overseas Scanning

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to gather information from capable sources on new strategies for reducing the risk o a radiological and nuclear threat from leaving a foreign port of departure via maritime cargo. In particular, the department is seeking information, recommendations, or proposed solutions for DHS and its external stakeholders to achieve the requirement of 100 percent overseas scanning established by the SAFE Port Act of 2006.
