Industry Day Planned for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction

The Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Consortium will host an Industry Day on Feb. 22-23 in Crystal City, Va., for the CWMD Other Transaction Agreement (OTA). The event will be of interest to CWMD Consortium members and industry partners that are seeking opportunities to fulfill the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense and CWMD partner requirements for rapid prototyping in order to counter threats posed by WMD. The prototyping requirements include any technologies that enable or enhance the understanding of the WMD operational environment, threats, and vulnerabilities; controlling, defeating, disabling, and or disposing of WMD threats; safeguarding the force while managing consequences; and promoting the cooperation, coordination, interoperability, and decision making among all CWMD entities. CBP Issues RFI for High Energy Rail Inspection System

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a high-energy X-Ray imaging system for rail inspection at international border crossings. The agency says that based on a previous pre-solicitation conference with vendors for an integrated rail in section system, and further market research and internal discussions, it is evaluating an alternate strategy for acquiring the technologies involved for the procurement. Now CBP wants additional input from the vendor community. The RFI says that the government may choose to integrate one or more next-generation Radiation Portal Monitor systems, for which a Request for Proposal is currently outstanding, with the next-generation rail non-intrusive inspection system. State Department Solicits for Biometric Capture Equipment

The State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for market research for a biometric capture peripheral, cradle, or affixed device that uses commercial off-the-shelf hardware, software licensing, and development services to facilitate biometric and biographic capture and identity response capabilities on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7-inch tablet.
