Catcher Holdings, Inc. [CTHH] has agreed to acquire Vivato Networks, Inc., a provider of indoor and outdoor extended-range wireless network infrastructure equipment and services. The deal, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2007, will allow Catcher to provide more complete solutions for its customers who acquire the company’s CATCHER mobile computing device. Catcher’s goal is to move into the first responder and enterprise markets, which have been asking the company to offer networking capabilities, company officials tell TR2 at the ASIS security conference in Las Vegas. Vivato’s WiFi base-station systems, which can brought to the scene of an emergency or permanently installed, has a range of two-plus miles and is based on packet steering, phased array technology. Vivato’s systems are deployed with the Defense Department, seaports and airports. Catcher is acquiring Vivato with 2.5 million shares of its common stock.
