DHS Seeks Sources for Phase II of Robotic Aircraft for Public Safety Project
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate, Borders and Maritime Security Division, has issued a Sources Sought Notice seeking data from the small unmanned aircraft system (SUAS) community to inform S&T and its stakeholders in the large Homeland Security Enterprise of current SUAS capabilities. In Phase I of the Robotic Aircraft for Public Safety (RAPS) project, S&T conducted field assessments of SUAS systems for evaluation against key performance parameters. In Phase II the program will focus primarily on border security and law enforcement capabilities and providing training opportunities for border security operators to assess SUAS supplier systems under typical border mission scenarios. The SUAS suppliers will provide technically mature, flight-proven vehicles and their fully-integrated sensors for evaluation. DHS, TSA to Host Industry Day for X-Ray Strategic Sourcing Ordering Vehicle
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Strategic Sourcing and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will host an Industry Day and webinar on July 27 regarding the Accessible Property Screening Systems Strategic Sourcing Ordering Vehicle (APSS), which is the department’s next Advanced Technology X-Ray ordering vehicle. The APSS will be a DHS Strategic Sourcing Qualified Products List that will allow for department components to purchase X-Ray technology and future screening equipment. The Industry Day will be used to present the acquisition strategy for the new vehicle and gain insight into industry’s capabilities. APSS was previously known as Advanced Technology X-Ray (AT-2). TSA to Solicit for Human Resources Support
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a pre-solicitation notice seeking contractor services to process personnel, payroll and benefits transactions. Services are need to meet increased quantities in personnel transactions due to unexpected attrition, hiring and external pressures, transform and load legacy data provide by TSA, provide advisory services to the agency’s Office of Human Capital on complex transactional personnel, payroll and benefits processes and system issues, and more. TSA Industry Engagement Group Meeting in August
The Washington Homeland Security Roundtable, in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will host an Industry Engagement Group meeting on Aug. 12 at TSA headquarters in Arlington, Va., the first of quarterly meetings to be held during the next year. The group provides private sector companies and organizations with an opportunity to work with TSA at an enterprise level on fundamental issues and in particular strategic engagement as it relates to the procurement process. TSA Plans Industry Day for Information Assurance of Acquisitions
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Office of Security Capabilities will host an Industry Day on July 24 in an effort to collaborate with stakeholders early to help improve and aid in the development of its information technology security requirements for transportation security equipment. TSA has also provided a draft copy of its Information Assurance Requirements for TSA Government Acquisitions. TSA anticipates that these requirements will be included in all future contracts associated with the qualification and procurement of new transportation security equipment and the sustainment of this equipment in the field. TSA Finalizing Acquisition Strategy for Customer Service Contact Center
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is finalizing its acquisition strategy for Customer Service Contact Center services and is considering the AbilityOne Program to fulfill these requirements. The AbilityOne Program is a federal initiative to help people who are blind or have other significant disabilities to finding employment by working within a national network of non-profit agencies that sell products and services to the U.S. government. If AbilityOne isn’t used as the procurement strategy, a competitive solicitation is expected by Sept. 22, 2015 and a contract award by April 1, 2016.
