DHS OBIM Issues RFI for Related to Next-Gen Architecture and Capabilities
The Department of Homeland Security Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to survey industry on current and near future technologies related to the office’s plans for replacing its current Automated Biometric Identification System, called IDENT, with next-generation architecture and capabilities. OBIM is seeking a system capable of identity deconfliction, which will include the use of biometric, biographic and contextual data, advanced biometric matching, advanced biographic searching, high-performance transaction processing, business intelligence capabilities, storage, information linking, and international biometrics. As of Sept. 2014, the IDENT system contained more than 170 million biometric identities, and handles about 290,000 transactions a day in support of DHS components and other partners. Sol. Army Seeks Increment 3 of Automated Installation Entry
The Army Contracting Command in support of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, Guardian Product Manager, has issued a solicitation for Increment 3 of the Automated Installation Entry (AIE) system. The acquisition will provide hardware and software for about 35 new installations. The AIE system provides timely threat detection for installation commanders, automates access control processes for authorized and registered personnel entering an installation, and improves the accuracy of access/denial and enables near real-time changes of authentication requirements in response to changes in force protection conditions. Additional capabilities include biometric integration and extended sensor suites. DHS S&T Issues RFI for Emerging Technologies for First Responders
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) branch has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on emerging technologies that address challenges faced by the first responder community in the U.S. The information will be used to assess technologies to provide solutions to capability gaps in the areas of situational awareness, communications, command control and coordination, logistics and resource management, casualty management, and responder health, safety and performance. A demonstration and operational assessment may be done in FY ’15 using government-developed technologies although the potential exists for privately developed technologies to be used as well. Sol. Navy Seeks Trace Explosive Detection Systems for Evaluation
The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division is seeking commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and near-COTS systems capable of detecting trace amounts of explosives via direct contact with the sample surface, not through vapor collection. Detection capabilities should include commercial and military explosives and homemade explosives. DoD Seeks Sources for Mobile ABIS System for Bulgarian Military
The Defense Department’s Project Manager for Biometrics has issued a Sources Sought announcement for a Mobile Automatic Biometrics Identification System (ABIS) for the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense. The Bulgarians have identified a requirement for a mobile ABIS for their Military Police in support of NATO led operations.
