USCIS Seeks Sources for Enterprise Gateway and Integration Services

TSA Plans RFP for Reduced Size EDS
The Transportation Security Administration plans to issue a Request for Proposal for competitive procurements for multiple inline explosive detection systems (EDS) among qualified Reduced Size EDS manufacturers. DHS S&T Plans Road Tour to Engage Small Businesses
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate is conducting a Small Business Innovation Research road tour the week of June 18 as part of outreach efforts to the small business community to discuss opportunities for working with the agency. “The SBIR Road Tour continues to be a great way to discuss opportunities for innovative small businesses to engage on technology needs for the homeland security mission,” says William Bryan, the acting director of S&T. The road tour is sponsored by the Small Business Administration. Over five days, DHS SBIR representatives will visit Rochester, N.Y., Pittsburgh, Pa., Columbus, Ohio, Huntington, W. Va., and Durham, N.C. In upcoming legs of the tour, the office will visit cities in the Pacific Northwest and New England. CBP Plans to Replace AEW Radar on P-3 Aircraft
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information to industry for market research on new airborne early warning (AEW) radar for eight of its P-3 surveillance aircraft typically flown in counter-drug, counter-terrorism and counter-human smuggling missions. The Lockheed Martin [LMT]-built P-3s include the company’s AN/APS-145 AEW radar on eight of CBP’s fleet of 14 aircraft. The remaining P-3’s are long-range tracker variants equipped with a short to medium-range radar to help identify and track targets detected by the P-3 AEW aircraft, and electro-optic and infrared sensors, and a marine search radar. CBP says that the results of its market research will help it plan for a replacement AEW radar. The current radar provides continuous 360-degree coverage and detects suspect aircraft and surface vessels. Some of the requirements mentioned in the RFI for the new AEW radar include being able to track over 2,000 targets simultaneously, an 80 percent probability of detection and tracking a small air target—one square meter or less—at ranges greater than 180 nautical miles and a large air target—greater than one square meter—at ranges of up to 300 nautical miles. For small targets—one square meter—on the sea surface, CBP wants a detection and tracking probability rate of 80 percent at 80 nautical miles when a vessel is dead in the water and 110 nautical miles when a vessel is moving at 10 knots or greater. NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM Plan to Help Allies with Cyber Security Training
The U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) and Southern Commands (SOUTHCOM) plan to help allied partners in the Western Hemisphere with their cyber security posture through a new training services contract, according to a government notice. The Air Force on June 8 issued a Sources Sought notice for the NORTHCOM Western Hemispheric Cybersecurity Training Environment as part of its planning to develop an acquisition strategy for the project, which will include allied partners of NORTHCOM and SOUTHCOM. The Air Force plans to award a potential two-year contract this September for the training environment services. The Air Force says the training will provide allied partners “with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to defend network infrastructure, detect cyber intrusions, identify hacker techniques, counter cyber-attacks, and if an attack is detected, react quickly and effectively performing computer forensics for investigation and analysis.” The notice also says “The Western Hemispheric Cybersecurity Training Environment will replicate complex, large-scale, heterogeneous networks and users in current and future partner nation systems and operations and conduct unbiased, quantitative and qualitative assessment of information assurance and survivability.” A Request for Proposal is forthcoming.
