Draft RFP Issued for Next-Gen Chem Detector 1

The Joint Project Manager, Nuclear Biological Chemical Contamination Avoidance has issued a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Next Generation Chemical Detector 1 program, now named XM12 Aerosol & Vapor Chemical Agent Detector (AVCAD). The AVCAD shall detect, identify, alarm, and report the presence of foreign variants of aerosol and vapor chemical hazards, and it shall also include a wireless remote alarm capability. The system shall operate in both mounted and dismounted configurations. The Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines Corps will use AVCAD. The objective of the effort is to procure AVCADs for engineering and manufacturing development with the capability of using options to support low rate initial production and full rate production requirements. CBP Seeks Help Reviewing Plans for Support of Radio Network

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information seeking a review of a Statement of Objectives for contractor support and modernization services for the High Frequency Cellular-Over-the-Horizon Enforcement Network radio communications network. CBP wants to know whether the statement and component and support matrix provide sufficient definition to allow them to provide a firm, fixed-price proposal for all or some of the services, and if not, what additional information would be needed. Sol. No. CBP2017130007. Respond by Aug. 31. Contact: Eva Shaw-Taylor, contract specialist, [email protected], 202-344-2874.

Coast Guard Seeks Handheld Multimode Biometric Readers

The Coast Guard has issued a draft Request for Proposal to purchase for about 250 handheld multimode biometric readers that will be deployed to field units across the country to verify Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) and Seafarer Identification Documents are valid and enable one-to-one biometric matches of the holder to the fingerprint template stored within the credential. The Coast Guard’s current biometric readers have reached the end of their service. The readers are used by the Coast Guard to help control access to secure areas of facilities and vessels at U.S. seaports. More than 2.8 million transportation workers have been issued a TWIC. Sol. No. HSCG23-17-IMMN201. Respond by July 27. Contact: Ranford Demontegnac, contract specialist, [email protected], 202-475-3373.

Army Issues Sources Sought Notice for JBAIDS Sustainment

The Army is conducting market research for the life-cycle sustainment of the fielded Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System (JBAIDS). The Army seeks to identify sources capable of performing repairs and updates to hardware and software. The JBAIDS is manufactured by BioFire Defense, LLC. Sol. No. W911QY-17-S-0015. Army Issues RFIs for Indoor Biological Surveillance

The Army has issued two Requests for Information (RFI) related to indoor biological surveillance, one for analytical identifiers for biological aerosols (Sol. No. W911SR17RIDNT) and the other for trigger sensors and sampler collectors for biological aerosols (Sol. No. W911SR17RTRIG). For the analytical identifiers, the BioSciences Division of the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center seeks information on equipment that can perform analytical identification of potential pathogens in collected indoor aerosols. Identifiers of particular interest are those that can be operated remotely and or autonomously, have highly sensitive capabilities for detecting pathogenic biological materials, and can autonomously receive and process samples for analysis. For the trigger sensors and sampler collectors, the division is seeking equipment that can detect biological material in indoor aerosols and triggers a response, and or collects biological samples from air. Detection triggers of particular interest are those that can operate autonomously, have highly sensitive and specific capabilities for detecting biological materials dispersed in the air in indoor environment, and can communicate status and detection events.
