CBP Plans RFI for Tethered Aerostat Radar System

Customs and Border Protection (CB) in July plans it release a Request for Information and Sources Sought to help with draft solicitation documents for the development of an acquisition strategy and final solicitation of the Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) Follow-On Operations and Maintenance contract. The TARS is an aerostat-borne surveillance system that provides wide area persistent long-range radar detection and monitoring for interdicting low-flying aircraft and maritime and ground traffic in support of the agency. The aerostats fly about 10,000 feet above sea level and are operating at six sites long the U.S. border with Mexico, with to additional sites monitoring the Florida Straits and a portion of the Caribbean south and west of Puerto Rico. DHS Seeks Sources for PPBE System

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Sources Sought notice for a business system to enhance Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) of department resources. The PPBE system must provide consistent, accurate, and timely decision support data and tools to streamline major recurring resource procedures and enhance stakeholder product delivery and reporting. Army Issues Special Notice for Man-Portable Rad Detection System

The Army Joint Program Executive Office Chemical and Biological Defense has issued a Special Notice for a Man-portable Radiological Detection System (MRDS) Hands Free Radiation Detection System. The office’s Joint Project Leader for Radiological and Nuclear Defense has requested that Oak Ridge National Laboratory conduct tests for systems meeting the MRDS Hands Free white paper. Testing is expected to occur in the Oct. to Nov. 2017 timeframe. Oak Ridge expects to use radioactive test sources to test respondents’ devices using unshielded, shielded and masking test scenarios. Navy Seeks CBRN Support for Joint Requirements Office

The Navy Supply Systems Command has issued a presolicitation notice for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense studies and analysis support services on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Requirements Office (JRO). The JRO has the only purpose-built organization with the Chemical and Biological Defense Program Enterprise charged with operational and risk analysis for the multi-billion dollar program. The JRO’s responsibilities and products include analytical support, Joint Staff and Office of Secretary of Defense-directed studies, war-fighting scenario development, operational research, and subject matter expertise in various areas such as CBRN requirements development and capabilities based assessments. DHS S&T Seeks Technical Support for TSL
