GSA Issues RFI for Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation
The General Services Administration (GSA) is considering a new Special Item Number (SIN) under IT Schedule 70 specifically for Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) tools. The agency has issued a Request for Information to get feedback from industry and other relevant stakeholders on the proposed CDM SIN and better understand how industry partners are selling CDM tools currently on IT Schedule 70. The CDM SIN goals include establishing a government-wide contracting solution to continue to provide a consistent set of CDM tools, improving government access to the best available technology and improve the flexibility of the CDM program, and establishing and maintaining a list of approved CDM products and to provide a mechanism to qualify new products against the CDM requirements and add products to an Approved Product List. DHS S&T Announces $35M Funding Opportunity for Border Security
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has announced a $35 million funding opportunity for a new Center of Excellence in Cross-Border Threat Screening and Supply Chain Defense (CBTS). The overarching goal of the center will be to research and develop solutions, protocols and capabilities to support the identification of potential biological threats within the DHS operational environment that could disrupt critical infrastructure supply chains and the operational activities conducted at ports of entry, land borders, and other critical nodes within the supply chain. Accredited U.S. colleges and universities can submit proposals at the center lead or as an individual partner to work with the lead institution in support of the center’s activities. DHS plans to fund the new COE for 10 years. Biological and chemical agents, novel biological agents, invasive species, infectious human and zoonotic diseases, and counterfeit or adulterated goods are a key focus of this new center. Army Seeks Sources for Hand Held High Resolution RIID
The Army Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for handheld high resolution radioisotope identifier devices (RIID) used in the Man-portable Radiation Detection System (MRDS). The JPEO-CBD Joint Project Leader Radiological Nuclear Defense and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency will test RIIDs later this year. The primary focus of the overall MRDS program is the detection and confirmatory identification of special nuclear material and threat radiological materials. DHS S&T Issues RFI for Handheld Explosive Trace Detectors
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) branch, National Urban Security Technology Laboratory has issued a Request for Information on commercially available handheld explosive trace detectors using ion mobility spectrometry and related technologies. The lab expects to select products for inclusion in a market survey and or side-by-side comparison study based on product information submitted in response to the RFI. Coast Guard Issues Draft RFP for sUAS for National Security Cutters
The Coast Guard has issued a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for a planned five-year contract to provide the service with small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) to be deployed aboard its nine National Security Cutters to provide the vessels with a persistent tactical airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capability that can remain in flight for at least 12 hours per day. The sUAS systems will be used to support all of the NSC’s missions in all maritime operating areas. The aircraft shall be capable of accepting modular payloads. SOCOM Issues RFI For Tactical Forensic Event
U.S. Special Operations Command, Program Executive Manager for Sensitive Site Exploitation has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential methodologies for inclusion in the evaluation of next-generation capabilities for the collection and transport by the Special Operations Force Operator of bulk and trade materials collected on the objective. The Tactical Forensic Event 2017 will also evaluate the ability of devices to detect and provide feedback to operators or trained Exploitation Analysis Center personnel of samples that may present explosive, chemical, biological or radiological hazards. State Department Collecting Information on Biometric System for Mexico
The U.S. State Department, Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), in conjunction with INL/Mexico City, is conducting market research for a biometric system solution composed of predominantly commercial-off-the-shelf products for software licensing, maintenance and development services. This in in preparation for a potential procurement to ultimately design, develop and deploy a formalized, fully compliant and scalable biometrics system for the government of Mexico. Core services may include interfacing and interoperability with up to six other Mexican biometric system applications and U.S. biometric systems within the FBI, Department of Homeland Security IDENT system, the Defense Department and other systems as required.
