*General Dynamics [GD] received a potential five-year, $48.2 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security to provide cyber situational awareness support, analysis and technical and infrastructure support to the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT). US-CERT is the operational arm of DHS’ National Cyber Security Division and is a partnership between DHS and the public and private sectors to protect the nation’s Internet infrastructure. GD has performed similar services for the US-CERT since 2004. The contract, which was awarded under the DHS EAGLE program, has a base year and four one-year options.

*ICx Technologies [ICXT] recently acquired PureTech Systems, which designs and supplies video analytics and command and control software. The deal, which was not publicly announced because ICx was in a quiet period preparing for its public stock offering, was done about two months ago. Terms were not disclosed. Video analytics is a new capability for ICx and its surveillance solutions. PureTech’s Scene Analyzer provides object detection and tracking, fence intrusion detection, and automated camera steering. The company’s annual sales are less than $10 million. Customers include the Ports of Seattle and Halifax, Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport and the City of Phoenix to help protect its water supply.

*Boeing [BA] received a $64 million task order from the Department of Homeland Security to design, develop and test an upgraded situational awareness system that will be used by Border Patrol command centers and agent vehicles as part of the Secure Border Initiative (SBInet) virtual fence the company is developing and installing along the Southwest border of the U.S. The latest task order brings Boeing’s revenues under SBInet to $128 million so far. The program’s initial installation along 28 miles of border has been plagued for months by technical difficulties but the program took a step forward last week when Customs and Border Protection took “conditional acceptance” of Project 28 to begin 45 days of operational testing following the recent completion of systems verification testing by Boeing. Project 28 refers to the 28-mile initial deployment.
