Saab AB signed a contract with the Brazilian Ministry of Defence for Gripen NG weapon acquisition worth about $245 million, the company said on April 24.

Contracted through Brazil’s Aeronautics Command (COMAER), the order is expected to be booked by Saab during the second half of 2015.

The contract includes weapons deliveries from Saab and suppliers for the Brazilian Gripen aircraft. The deliveries are to be made in relation to deliveries of the Gripen NG aircraft to the Brazilian Air Force.

This supplements an existing contract between Saab and Brazil concerning development and production of 35 Gripen NG aircraft, announced in October 2014.

Contract effectiveness is subject to the fulfillment of conditions including necessary export control-related authorizations.
