The Air Force awarded Boeing [BA] $403 million in a fixed-price inventive firm and cost-plus-fixed-fee modification of an earlier contract award to upgrade four E-767 aircraft and three group support facilities for Japan, the Pentagon said on Feb. 13.

The upgrade is called the Japan Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Mission Computing Upgrade Program.

The work is to be performed in Oklahoma City, Okla. and is set to be completed by June 30, 2020.

This is a 100 percent Foreign Military Sales contract to Japan and is the result of a sole-source acquisition. The contract was issued by Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.
