The analytics firm Babel Street on Jan. 6 announced a strategic investment in the company by SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2) that includes a joint collaboration on open-source intelligence solutions for the national security community.

Babel Street, which is based in Northern Virginia, said the strategic partnership will leverage its products and SAP’s HANA real-time data platform. SAP NS2 is a United States-based subsidiary of the German software company SAP.

Babel Street’s software is used to transform raw data for use in decision making. The company describes itself as providing “multi-lingual, geo-enabled text analytics” that allow “source location, language, and quality to inform rather than inhibit search and analysis.” Babel says its software-as-a-service platform enables users to collect, monitor and analyze data in real-time across the Internet in over 200 languages.

SAP NS2’s investment in Babel is through a Series-A financing.
