The Army approved 10 product directors to take up positions this summer under new talent management initiatives initiated by the Director of Army Career Management (DACM), acquisition officials said.

“My goal is to create a pool of the right people with the right skills for the right jobs,” said Lt. Gen. Michael Williamson, principal military deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, and DACM. Williamson discussed talent management in a recent video on managing the acquisition workforce, as detailed on the by acquisition corps website.

ArmyThe first civilian only, centrally selected product director board in early December chose 14 candidates from the acquisition corps; 10 were approved in early February by a talent management board of directors led by Williamson, with Craig Spisak, deputy DACM and the 12 program executive officers (PEO).

The Army DACM Office, in coordination with the PEOs, will centrally manage the positions.

The product director board is the Army DACM’s first effort to provide additional development and growth opportunities for high-performing civilians while building a larger talent pool for future senior leader requirements, officials said.

The next centralized selection board for product director is likely to be in October.
