The Air Force and United Launch Alliance (ULA) are set for Wednesday’s launch of the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) NROL-45 satellite, according to a company statement.

The mission will take place on a Delta IV rocket from Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Launch time is set for 6:39 a.m. EST.

ULA plans on retiring the Delta IV in the 2018-2019 time frame as it believes it is not cost competitive on an open market (Defense Daily, June 26). ULA is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Boeing [BA].
