The Air Force on Friday awarded Raytheon [RTN] a contract worth nearly $1 billion for a Qatar early warning radar system, according to a Pentagon statement.

The deal is a fixed-price, incentive-firm letter contract. Raytheon will provide a system that will be integrated into the Qatar integrated air and missile defense enterprise. Work is expected to be complete by June 30, 2021. Aerial view of the Pentagon, Arlington, VA

This contract is 100 percent foreign military sales (FMS) and is the result of a sole-source acquisition.
