An AH-64 Apache helicopter with 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea/U.S. Combined Division crashed during a training mission Monday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. Korea time, killing two pilots, according to an Army statement.

The Apache was a Boeing [BA]AH-64D model, according to service spokesman Joe Buccino. The crash took place nearly 50 miles east of Camp Humphreys, South Korea. The identities of the two pilots will be withheld pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The Army did not respond to additional requests for comment by press time Monday.
