Acro, Inc. [ACRI], which sells a pen-like device that tests for improvised peroxide-based explosives such as TATP, has introduced a similar device called the ACRO-N.E.T., which is a nitro explosive tester. ACRO-N.E.T. is capable of identifying the majority of military and commercial explosives in use such as TNT, Tetryl, TNB, picric acid, dynamite, RDX, PETN, nitrocellulose smokeless powder, C4, Semtex, and others, Acro says. The device can also detect homemade explosives based on nitrate, the company adds. Acro says it will offer the nitro and peroxide testing devices in a kit that will be available shortly. The company also says the U.S. Army recently acquired several hundreds of the ACRO-P.E.T. devices. Acro’s distributors include: Quality Performance, Inc., in Fredericksburg, Va.; Vipra Enterprises in India; and Bensan Mumessillik Import, Export, Industry and Trade Co., in Turkey.
