Acquisition Solutions, Inc. (ASI), a government consulting firm that supports the federal acquisition community, said yesterday it has acquired the consulting firm ICOR Partners in a deal that adds new subject matter expertise in the areas of general management and information technology enterprise architecture.

Terms of the acquisition, which was completed on Jan. 8, were not disclosed. ICOR, which has about 40 employees, boosts ASI’s head count above 200.

ICOR essentially provides contracts and expertise that broadens ASI’s management consulting base, Anne Reed, ASI’s president and CEO, told Defense Daily. ASI serves the acquisition community, such as procurement shops and program managers seeking acquisition support and knowledge. ICOR doesn’t have the acquisition domain expertise that ASI does “so their areas of management expertise are complementary,” she said.

The new capabilities allow ASI to pursue more opportunities and offer clients a broader set of subject matter experts. In addition, the deal maintains ASI’s focus on being a “trusted adviser” to its customers, independent of potential conflicts of interest, Reed said.

ASI’s customers “tell us it matters to them” that the company is focused on providing independent advice and avoiding potential organizational conflicts of interests, Reed said. “We are going to build a platform that stays solely on the trusted adviser space on the advisory side of the equation and so we think being able to expand our depth of expertise and range in that trusted adviser space will be something that the market appreciates.”

ICOR primarily serves federal civilian customers, excluding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Before the acquisition, ASI’s business was roughly split into thirds among the federal civilian, DHS and Defense Department customers, Reed said.

The acquisition is the first for ASI.
