For more than 35 years, SATELLITE has played a critical role in determining how satellites will shape the future of our world. This is the FIRST TIME this year SATELLITE will feature a track focused on defense- related subjects. Join us at this exclusive event to hear strategic insights from industry leaders from organizations such as the Air Force, Spaceflight Industries, and NextGen Space about the most pressing defense issues as they relate to the satellite industry.

Forum registrants will also have access to the SATELLITE Welcome Reception on March 6th at 5:00 PM, along with access to the show floor for the remainder of the week—an excellent opportunity to network with the 14,000+ satellite executives who attend this expo.

Agenda Includes:

Milspace in the 21st Century: Smallsats and Disaggregated Space Architectures (11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

The general direction of space segment evolution seems to be heading toward smaller satellites and disaggregated architectures for both commercial and government services. How are military satellite end-users adapting to this change? How do these newer architectures fit in with future military capabilities and requirements?

Speakers Include:

  • George Torres, formerly ATK (moderator)
  • Peter Wegner, Spaceflight Industries
  • USAF Col. Shahnaz Punjani, ORS Office Director at Kirtland AFB
  • Dale Hayden, Air University

U.S. Space Corps—a Coast Guard for Space? (1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.)

Responsibility for space programs is spread among the DoD services, causing dysfunction, concurrency and wasted money and time. Could a U.S. Space Corps, created along the lines of the U.S. Coast Guard, streamline space efforts and truly infuse the benefits of competition into military space programs?

Speakers Include:

  • USAF Maj. Brent Ziarnick, Instructor, Air Command and Staff College (moderator)
  • Rand Simberg, Industry Consultant, Shuttle Vet
  • Jess Sponable, DARPA Tactical Technology Office
  • Michael ‘Coyote’ Smith, Air University

Range Innovation and Reusable Rockets (3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

The promise of reusable rockets and associated cheap access to space will arrive faster than people imagine. What is the Pentagon doing to innovate at the range so it can take advantage of reusable rocketry for military purposes when the technology arrives?

Speakers Include:

  • Pat Host, Defense Daily (moderator)
  • Charles Miller, Founder, NextGen Space LLC
  • Jim Ball, Principal, Spaceport Strategies LLC
  • USAF Lt. Col. Thomas Schilling, Chief of the Commander’s Action Group

YES! I want to be a part of the premiere satellite industry show of the year and participate in a full day of intelligent discussion on the impact this rapidly evolving market is having on the defense industry.
