During the past year, leaders in the Open Architecture debate have moved beyond building the case for upgrading legacy systems. Now that the services have begun implementing open architecture systems into everything from aviation assets to C4I and ships, the real debate centers around whether these early efforts are demonstrating any return on investment.
Consider, for instance, that since last year's Summit, the Navy has taken its first steps under ACB 08, to bring OA into the surface fleet. The USS Bunker Hill (CG-52 ) underwent the initial efforts to separate the software from the hardware on a surface combatant. Now as the Navy is preparing to move into ACB 12, what efforts and opportunities has the service outlined for the next modifications? Be sure to attend the Summit for all of the latest developments in this critical area.
Other key players in the debate are systems operators. Find out whether or not they are seeing any early results from the implementation of open architecture, and what those results can mean for your organization. Also, learn about opportunities available for both large and small contractors.
Everyone knows that a system is only as good as its parts. So as systems are opened up to enable third parties to contribute components, what risks do the services run? You'll learn about the risks and also take away useful insights about guidelines and measures that need to be taken to ensure that opening up combat or C4I systems doesn’t introduce vulnerabilities.
And new this year, learn from experts inside the federal government about efforts beyond OA. Find out how the government is beginning to explore cloud computing and virtualization.
At The 2nd Annual OA Summit, you will take part in provocative discussions on:
- How far into the systems (radar, weapons, sonar, EW, communications) can you move OA principles?
- With OA, can the latest capability software updates be delivered to the warfighter in the field?
- Combat systems modernization dilemma: Upgrade or replace and at what cost?
- The Future Surface Combatant (FSC): Is there an opportunity to accelerate the timeline to achieve Navy’s goal to moving to an OA combat system?”
Between the networking opportunities among key decision makers among industry, government and the military and insightful debate on the key issues, you cannot afford to miss this annual event.
