TSA Plans Industry Day on 3rd Party Testing Program

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Feb. 25 will host an Industry Day on Feb. 25 regarding its 3rd Party Test Program (TPT) and to solicit questions and capability statements from industry. The event will be held at the Transportation Security Integration Facility at Reagan National Airport. TSA is exploring 3rd party testing to gain efficiencies and cost savings in the acquisition test and evaluation (T&E) process. The agency says that failures during Qualification Testing and Operational Testing have resulted in an iterative cycle of test, fix, and re-test that extends acquisition timelines and drives up the cost of T&E. TSA says it believes TPT is a key element in streamlining the acquisition process by ensuring system maturity before entering formal T&E. It also expects TPT to decrease development and testing costs and will allow the agency to better allocate constrained resources. Sol. No. HSTS04-14-OSC-3rd_Party_Testing_Model. Reply by Feb. 12.
